"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)  Friend, did you ever wonder why Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth?  Well, the word of God tells us why.  It does not matter what a man, religion, tradition, or a church says.  What does the word of God say?  Here are five reasons why Jesus Christ came.

1-To Set You Free

     "For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."  (Mark 10:45)  Ransom means to rescue-to redeem from captivity.  Psalm 102:19-20 tells us that we are prisoners-slaves to sin and the world.  Perhaps you're a slave to alcohol (booze), drugs, lust, pornography, or money.  Christ can deliver you.  That's why Christ came.  

2-To Show You Light

    "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."  (John 12:46)  For the most part, this world is blind to spiritual things.  It is in the dark about the fact of eternity, the judgment to come, that their never dying soul is going to heaven or hell when thy die, and that the devil (the god of this world) has blinded them.  (2 Corinthians 4:4)  When you die, your soul is going to heaven or hell.  That's why Christ came.

3-To Satisfy You

     "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  (John  10:10b)  Colossians 2:10 tells us that without Jesus Christ something is missing.  Drugs, booze, sex, money, religion, church baptism, a wafer, church membership to any church or society, catechism, and giving cannot fill the emptiness inside you.  Until you get Christ in you (born again), something's missing.  Does it feel like something's missing?  That's why Christ came.  "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."  (John 3:17)

4-To Save You

     "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."  (Luke 19:10)  Are you lost?  A slave to sin, scared searching for something to satisfy you?  Nothing in this world can.  You are a sinner.  (Romans 3:23)  (You have told a lie, or disobeyed your parents.)  Your sins have separated you from God.  (Isaiah 9:2)  Jesus Christ died for your sins that separate you from God.  He was buried (went to hell for you) and rose again the third day for you (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), so you could escape the damnation of Hell.  That's why Chist came.

5-To Start A Relationship

     "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."  (John 3:7)  Notice, I said, relationship.  That's what I'm talking about, not religion.  Religion will put you in hell.  Does it seem like something is missing?  Are you sick and tired of your sin?  Are you disgusted with your life?  If you will trust in Jesus Christ, He will save you from hell and change you life.

A Good Prayer:  God, I'm sick of my sin, and my life, and I'm sorry for wrecking and ruining the life you gave me to bring you pleasure with.  (Revelation 4:11)  I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose again for me.  The best way I know how, I'm asking you to forgive me, to come into my sick, sad heart and save me from hell and change my life.  In Jesus Christ's name I pray, Amen.

A church can't save you, baptism cannot save you, giving cannot save you, church membership can't save you, praying a prayer cannot save you, a wafer cannot save you, confirmation cannot save you---if any of these things could save you

---why did Jesus Christ have to die?

"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." (I Timothy 1:15)  Friend, you are a sinner (have you ever told a lie?), and your sin separates you from God (Isaiah 59:1-2). You need a Saviour.  "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)  "...Repent ye, and believe the gospel."  (Mark 1:15)  "For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10)
